We’re sisters-in-law, friends, moms, and the people behind The Good Kind Photography.
The Good Kind started with a pretty simple idea: photos don’t need to be perfectly posed to be beautiful. In fact, we think the best ones usually aren’t.
We love the messy hair, belly laughs, kids being kids, dogs refusing to cooperate, awkward hugs that turn into real ones, and all the little in-between moments that actually feel like *you*.
Kim is the photographer and editor behind the camera. She loves finding the moments you didn’t even realize were happening - the look, the laugh, the tiny interaction that somehow becomes your favourite photo.
Erica is the magic behind The Good Kind, helping with bookings, client communication, social media, and all the little details that make things run smoothly. She’s also the director of photography and there to help with posing, last minute adjustments, and more.
Together, we wanted to create a photography experience that feels relaxed, welcoming and genuinely fun. No pressure to have perfectly behaved kids. No expectation that you know what to do in front of a camera. No need to show up as anything other than yourselves.
We believe every kind of family deserves to be celebrated and documented. The loud ones. The quiet ones. The blended ones. The chosen ones. The two-legged and four-legged ones. The wonderfully imperfect ones.

We’re not interested in perfection. We’re interested in people, connection and the moments you’ll want to remember.
The Good Kind grew from a genuine love of photography, creativity and beautiful things. Kim has loved photography for years and has always been the person with the camera, the one who's always been told she has "and eye for it". Erica is a gardener, creative soul and free spirit with a knack for seeing beauty in the little things. Together, we bring those perspectives to every session.
Our approach is simple: everyone belongs in the photo.
That includes the person who is usually behind the camera. The kid who won't sit still. The teenager who isn't thrilled about family pictures. The dog who has absolutely no intention of looking at us. The person who feels awkward in front of a camera. All of you.
We’ll offer guidance when you need it, help you feel comfortable, and then leave plenty of room for real life to happen.
Because sometimes the best photo isn't the one where everyone is looking at the camera. It's the one right after, the laugh, the glance, the hug, the chaos, the moment that actually feels like your family.
